About
Who Am I?
Welcome to my online home. My name is Matthew Davis, and I am a professional web developer and musician from Stoke-on-Trent in the United Kingdom. This site serves as a repository for my ideas, tips, tutorials and random snippets of information that I want or need to document. I hope you enjoy browsing around, and, most of all, I hope you find something useful.
What Is My Background?
I went to school in Stoke-on-Trent and left with a total of 11 GCSEs. I then moved on to sixth form college where I left with 4 A-Levels. During my time at school and college, I developed a passion for music, and began taking drum kit and orchestral percussion lessons. By the time I was 14, I had passed Grade 8 on both of those and I thought it was what I wanted to do for a career. Upon leaving sixth form college, I auditioned for Birmingham Conservatoire where I was accepted.
I spent the next four years studying there, and left with a 2:1 Bachelor Of Music Honours Degree, specialising in Percussion.
As soon as I left university, I was offered a job teaching music full-time in a state secondary (high) school, where I stayed for 18 months. I was responsible for teaching children aged 11 to 16, and also teaching GCSE music.
Upon leaving the school, I set off on a cruise ship where I stayed for 9 months performing as half of their resident duo, ‘Adagio’.
We subsequently left the ship in November 2007, and, having been involved in web development, design and programming since I was 14, I set up my small web design company, Yummy Duck Design.
That brings us up to now, and you can follow the rest of my story by reading this blog! Thanks for stopping by, and I hope you do find something of interest here.
